Ford Confirms Plans To Kill All Sedans In North America

 ~ The announcement was made with little fanfare as it was tucked away in the company’s first quarter financial results. Buried underneath various statistics is a rather blunt statement that the company will “not invest in next generations of traditional Ford sedans for North America.” Models (already long-in-the-tooth) such as the Fusion, Fiesta and Taurus will be phased out over the next few years. Stuttgart.~ Another Porsche Experience Centre has been given the green light: The world’s seventh customer experience centre from the sports car manufacturer is due to be built at the Hockenheimring.

Over the next two years, a 176,000-square-metre area at the heart of the historic circuit will see the construction of a state-of-the-art building complex, a handling course, several driving dynamics areas and an off-road course. The work is due to start towards the middle of 2018, with the experience centre expected to be operational by the end of 2019. Canadian International AutoShow [CIAS] To Offer Electric Vehicle Test Drives

The Canadian International AutoShow, in keeping with its 2018 theme of The New Movement, will offer free electric vehicle test drives to anyone attending this year’s show – Feb. 16-25 at the downtown Metro Toronto Convention Centre – as long as they are 21 and have a valid driver’s license.

Eight manufacturers of EVs – Nissan, BMW, Fiat-Chrysler, Honda, Mercedes-Benz, Mitsubishi, Hyundai and Volvo – will display cars like the Nissan Leaf and the BMW i3 in the EVolution Zone.  General Motors and Ford (along with the previous eight) will offer up cars for test drives in nearby special sections in both the convention centre’s North and South Buildings.     As well as the Leaf and the i3, other EVs available to test will include the Chevrolet Volt and Bolt, the Outlander PHEV, the Honda Clarity, the Volvo XC40, the Hyundai IONIQ and the Ford Focus Electric.
