2022 Ford Maverick Hybrid – Mini Road-Test

This week get some very limited seat time behind the wheel of the Maverick hybrid pickup truck – probably the hottest vehicle Ford have produced in decades. People have ordered their Maverick back in July 2021 and still haven’t received them yet – almost a year later. Due to the shortage of any available, we had to grab a quick test – courtesy of our local Ford dealership, (Grimsby Ford), so a big thanks to them. The order books closed for 2022 Maverick’s in February, so it looks like most people are going to be getting 2023’s…when they eventually arrive.

2021 Ford Ranger Tremor – Road Test

Last year we had the opportunity to drive loads of F-150’s during the lockdown. What has that got to do with the Ranger? Well, 99% of the people we talk to always say: “Why would you buy/lease a Ranger when it’s almost the same price as the F-150?” As someone that’s got plenty of experience driving both, it’s a no-brainer for me (and the wife) the Ranger wins every single time. It’s the better and more usable size of the two. It’s easier to drive, park and get in and out of. Unless you are towing big heavy trailers all the time, or you need a LOT of passenger space in the back, there is no need for you to get the F-150 over the Ranger.

Canada’s Most Capable Off-Road Pickup – The New 2014 Ram Power Wagon

April 9, 2014, Windsor, Ontario – Ram Truck brand’s quest to build the best pickups continues. The Ram 1500 EcoDiesel delivers the segment’s best fuel economy at 7.1 L/100 km (40 mpg) highway. Ram’s Heavy Duty truck line owns best-in-class towing at 16,608 kg (30,000 lb.) and best-in-class Gross Combined Weight Rating (GCWR) at 17,055 kg (37,600 lb.), but there’s an additional title Ram Truck has always held: the most capable off-road pickup. Built to master the most rigorous off-road trails, the 2014 Ram Power Wagon is based on the Ram 2500 Heavy Duty 4×4 Crew Cab, but features a number of off-road-specific engineering enhancements, including a unique suspension with more than 50 millimetres (two inches) of lift, locking differentials and a 5,443 kg (12,000 lb.) winch to give the truck a significant advantage over all production pickups.

2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser – Road Test

The first time I saw the FJ Cruiser I thought it was an odd-looking manly retro truck – definitely not a “chick-truck”. I wasn’t really enamored with it – I certainly didn’t get too excited about it. The first time my wife saw it she loved it and told me I just HAD to get one for a Road Test. She never stopped asking when I was going to get one, so I booked it for the middle of winter when it might actually come in handy. Now the question begs to be asked: is it a manly truck that “Chicks get” or is my wife getting too manly? Oddly enough, both sexes take double-stares at the FJ Cruiser, so it looks like Toyota have designed and built a truck that appeals to everyone. Now we’ll have to see if it’s as tough as it looks…
