2016 Kia Cadenza Tech – Road Test

I’ve driven the Cadenza a couple of times, but only for small stints – no longer than 10 minutes at a time. Every time I’ve gotten behind the wheel I’ve been impressed by how well it handled – far better than I’d expected it to be – for an old guy’s car. It’s a good-looking car, but let’s be honest here – it doesn’t get the heart-pounding… So why did I book a full week behind the wheel?

2015 Mercedes-Benz C400 4MATIC – Road Test

After years of procrastinating, I finally stopped by Oakville Mercedes-Benz to see my friend Steve Jones and take him up on his offer to go out on a test drive in one of his cars. I have no idea why I took so long to get around to it, but after today’s trip – it won’t be long before I’m back at his door begging for another test drive!! I let Steve chose the car, because after all who would better know about them than a top salesman and AMG Specialist?

2014 Lincoln MKZ 3.7L AWD – Road Test

Based on the same platform as the Fusion, the Lincoln MKZ is night-and-day different. With Lincoln’s Concierge Service thrown in – what’s not to love? The grill is interesting and according to Lincoln designers it’s supposed to evoke the look of ‘ a bird’s wings’ I suppose they’ve accomplished that. For what I used to consider an “older” guy’s car, I have to report – THIS Lincoln is not your father’s car, and I think if Ford could get more people to drive this one, they’d make some serious in-roads on the mid-size luxury car market. Ford recently announced they were ploughing $5 billion into making Lincoln a true player in the near-luxury and luxury market.

2014 BMW 3-Series To Get Diesel In The U.S. – No Word If Canada Will Also Get It

Automobile magazine is reporting that BMW will be introducing a new 328d wagon this year, and claims it will even come with xDrive all-wheel drive in addition to the 328d sedan. The new 3 Series diesel models are expected to enter production in July, which means we’ll get them as a 2014 model year. So what kind of numbers is this new 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo-diesel engine got to offer us?  It’s expected to deliver 180 hp and 280 lb/ft of torque. Reportedly diesel fans in the U.S. can get even more grunt with the optional brand-new 3.0 litre turbo-diesel six-cylinder engine in either the  5 Series or the redesigned X5 SUV that will deliver around 255 hp and 413 lb/ft of torque. 2008 Acura TSX – Road Test

The TSX is the entry-level car in Acura’s stable in the U.S (in Canada the CSX is the entry-level Acura). Based on the smaller European Honda Accord, the TSX promises to be sporty, as well as good value for money in the sub-luxury department. Considering the TSX is up against the likes of the BMW 3-series and the Audi A4, it’s competing in a very cut-throat part of the food chain. As is customary of Acura, the TSX is thousands of dollars cheaper than the car/vehicle it’s up against in the marketplace. Acura have a knack of pricing themselves just between two levels of near-luxury or luxury vehicles and the TSX is no different. Sometimes the Acura is a bargain, and sometimes it’s over-reaching. Which one is the TSX? I’ve been waiting a while to drive the TSX and it was worth the wait…sort of. One downside was that I waited so long the all-new 2009 TSX came out shortly after I test drove this one – oh well.

2006 Lexus IS 250 – Road Test

The last Lexus I drove was a GS430 about 6 or 7 years ago. I liked it but didn’t love it. I’d been looking forward to driving the 2006 IS 250 for several weeks and when that day arrived I was like a kid with a new bike! I loved the look of this car from the second I saw it sometime last year. I’ve always been impressed with Toyota and Lexus vehicles, but I’ve never actually looked at any of them with lust – until now. Toyota seem to be on a roll of late, we’ve got the Corolla XRS, the all-new Camry and Lexus ES350 – even the all-new Yaris is a pretty good looking car.
