We take a look back at one of our favourite road trips to California for the Grand Prix of Long Beach back in 2006. < Click
If you’ve looked at the “Motorsport” sections of Road Test you’ll see that we’ve been covering various racing series’ since 2000. Our beginnings were based on racing and being at the track – first as a photographer and then as a photo editor/photographer/writer for numerous websites. (Most of the links have gone as the sites have disappeared from the web, but I’m re-posting them here as time permits). When I say ‘we,’ I’m not alone on this adventure – my wife is also an avid race fan, photographer and car junkie. Oh, and she also works for a German race car driver in Media and Public Relations. So where am I going with this?

Spring OR Fall In Monterey California – The Perfect Holiday!/ September 21, 2008 As photo-journalists’ and motorsport photographers, my wife and I never really go “on vacation” – we’re always at work – so over the past couple of years, we decided to make a more concerted effort to take in the sights and share our experiences about the race destinations we have the pleasure to visit.
This week Champ Car announced their TV schedule for the 2008 season. Instantly, the motorsport forums lit up with fans being vocal and furious over the coverage – or should I say lack thereof – that the series will receive in 2008 on ABC/ ESPN.
– Plan A Family Vacation To Long Beach! In 2005 my wife and I had the opportunity of attending the IRL season opener in Homestead/Miami, Florida. This year we decided to start the racing season off right and travelled to enjoy the ChampCar season opener at Long Beach in California. While we are both race fans, we also like to travel, and in our travels to racetracks, we’ve met others that spend family vacations travelling to race destinations. We’ve found that doing research on the internet isn’t always that helpful – especially as far as combining motor racing and family vacations. Hopefully, we can help others to see the benefits of planning family vacations around race events through our experiences and a little advice on the areas that we‘ve been able to visit.
Friday’s A1GP Team Canada press conference in Toronto was a great opportunity for me to meet up again with Patrick Carpentier, as well as meet John Surtees a racing legend, and a new race hero – Sean McIntosh. Canadian businessman Wade Cherwayko is the Canadian Franchise Holder for A1 Team Canada, unfortunately he was unavailable for the conference due to business commitments in Nigeria. (Click HERE for Part 1) John Surtees ranks among the world’s greatest racers. He is the only man to win world championships on two and four wheels. He won seven world championships on motorcycles, one Formula One World Drivers Title and the North American CanAm Championship in sports cars.
